Climate Change Adaptation Strategies
To closely monitor its own energy usage and implement energy-saving projects within its current capabilities to continuously reduce overall energy consumption.
The new energy usage relies primarily on purchased electricity, accounting for 99.26% of total energy usage, mainly for laboratory equipment, air conditioning, lighting facilities, and computer server equipment for office operations.
Direct energy use includes gasoline and diesel, used for company vehicles and emergency generators.
In 2024, due to an increase in personnel and the expansion of office areas, electricity consumption increased, and the total energy consumption rose compared to the previous year. The energy intensity was 1.149 GJ per million New Taiwan dollars in revenue, which is an increase of 1.50% from the previous year, with a slight fluctuation.

In order to effectively manage energy and respond to the global trend of energy conservation and carbon reduction, GMT has not only followed national energy regulations but has also successively replaced air conditioning blowers and cooling towers in the past three years. It is planned to replace lighting fixtures by 2025, while other energy-saving and carbon-reduction actions will focus on common corporate strategies, including purchasing government vehicles that consider energy-saving vehicles with environmental labels, turning off unnecessary office lights from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, installing infrared automatic switch sensors for restroom lighting, and setting timers for air conditioning switches to avoid being left on after work.
On the other hand, in recent years, more and more companies have been promoting low-carbon transformation, leading to widespread attention on renewable energy issues.
GMT has planned to install solar panels starting in June 2025, with a capacity of 180KW, and is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
In the future, the overall energy usage will be further evaluated, and the use of renewable energy will be explored.
In the past three years, the company has implemented energy-saving actions that saved 50,713 kWh of electricity and reduced carbon emissions by 24.04 metric tons.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Starting from 2023, we will calculate greenhouse gas emissions, following the GHG Protocol to conduct a greenhouse gas inventory, and comprehensively account for emissions from Scope 1 and Scope 2.
In 2023, by establishing a greenhouse gas inventory system, the company understands its carbon emissions during operations, allowing for the assessment of future energy-saving and carbon reduction measures.
In 2024, the total emissions of Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gases amounted to 1,340.74 metric tons CO2e, of which Scope 1 direct greenhouse gas emissions were 49.98 metric tons CO2e, accounting for 3.73%. This mainly comes from the use of diesel in generators, gasoline and diesel in official vehicles, refrigerants, air conditioning equipment, fire extinguishers, and septic tanks; Scope 2 indirect greenhouse gas emissions were 1,290.76 metric tons CO2e, accounting for 96.27%, mainly from electricity used in office areas and equipment.

Greenhouse Gas Management
To remain vigilant about the impact of climate change on business operations, an annual inventory of greenhouse gas emissions is conducted in accordance with the GHG Protocol.
In addition, GMT has set greenhouse gas emission targets, aiming to reduce carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by 1% each year for five consecutive years starting from 2025, comparing the current and previous periods for Scope 1 and Scope 2.
In order to enhance employees' awareness of climate issues, we periodically promote energy conservation, carbon reduction, and environmental protection topics.
The company's energy-saving and carbon reduction actions have been explained in section 4.1.2 Energy Use.
Waste and Water Resource Management
Waste Management
GMT is an IC design company engaged in product design, research and development, and sales. It entrusts professional foundries to carry out wafer manufacturing, packaging, testing, and other production operations, which do not generate manufacturing-related waste, resulting in a simpler composition of waste. For the waste generated during the operational process, GMT has introduced and passed the ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system certification, managing and implementing waste management measures in a systematic manner, and complying with the government's Waste Disposal Act and relevant regulations. It has established an "Environmental Waste Management Procedure" for the segregated storage and transportation of waste, ensuring that waste is classified according to its type and nature, and subsequently entrusted to legally authorized disposal agencies for treatment. In the past two years, the waste disposal contractors commissioned by GMT have not violated any regulations, and all disposal data has been reported online, with complete reports provided for record-keeping.
Waste generated by the new site is divided into non-hazardous waste and hazardous waste. Non-hazardous waste mainly consists of paper, packaging materials, and office waste, accounting for 95.9% of the total waste. Hazardous industrial waste only accounts for 4.1% of the total, which includes discarded electronic components, scraps, and defective ICs. For the transportation of industrial waste, the administrative department's personnel complete the statistical work. Before transportation, a "Commissioned or Joint Processing Triplicate" is reported in the Ministry of the Environment's Resource Recycling Administration's industrial waste declaration and management information system, and arrangements are made for legal and approved vendors to handle the waste. After the vendor has cleared and processed the waste, notification is made for confirmation of the triplicate within 4 days.

Water Resource Management
GMT currently sources all its water from tap water, without using groundwater or seawater, and all water usage at all locations is for domestic purposes, with no industrial water usage. The GMT headquarters in Hsinchu is located in the Hsinchu Science Park, with its water source being the Baoshan Reservoir in Hsinchu. According to the World Resources...
The "Water Resources Risk Assessment Tool" from the World Resources Institute (WRI) survey shows that the percentage of water withdrawal and consumption from areas with high or extremely high baseline water stress is zero, indicating a lower potential impact on local water use. The wastewater is channeled through the sewage system to the park's wastewater treatment plant. After treatment, the water quality exceeds national discharge standards and is discharged into the Keya Creek through a dedicated pipeline system, ensuring no impact on the ecological environment and water quality.
On the other hand, Chih Hsin has established an "Emergency Response Plan Control Procedure" to guide employees in handling major emergencies or natural disasters, including flooding events, to reduce overall disaster losses. In addition, Chih Hsin regularly reviews water usage conditions and related facilities to achieve early detection of abnormalities and corresponding countermeasures. Internal emails are also sent periodically to announce water-saving requests, urging colleagues to report any unusual situations immediately to the Administrative Management Department for prompt action to prevent ongoing leaks. In 2024, Chih Hsin's total water intake was 8.785 million liters, a decrease of 3.74% compared to 2023. We will continue to promote measures to improve water resource utilization efficiency, including the use of water-saving toilets and faucets, and by posting water conservation slogans to encourage employees to develop water-saving habits, thereby implementing office water resource management.
